Shannon McCall, B.A., E-RYT 500, CAP

Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner

As a teacher of yoga and ayurveda, I guide people in the self-care practices that are foundational to good health, self-healing and transformation.

For 30+ years I have practiced and trained in many styles of hatha yoga, in authentic movement, Tibetan Buddhist meditation, western psychology, ayurveda and the Diamond Approach.  I love to integrate these teachings into a meaningful practice that supports practitioners in deepening their connection to the source of yoga within themselves.

I am grateful to many wonderful teachers for imparting the spirit and practice of yoga, meditation, ayurveda and self-inquiry to me: Dr Claudia Welch for her brilliant insight into women’s hormones through ayurveda and chinese medicine; Dr. Reggie Ray, for his skillful teaching of body-based meditation within the Vajrayana; my teachers in the Ridhwan school (Diamond Approach) and most especially to  Angela Farmer and Victor van Kooten who have patiently pointed me back to myself as the source of yoga; and to Dr. Vasant Lad, a true vaidya (ayurvedic healer), who has shown me again and again that Love is the real healer.

Speaking of love, I have traveled all over the South Pacific and Southeast Asia and spent many months a year on the island of Bali through the 90′s where I developed a very deep connection with the people of Sayan Village near Ubud.  I am mother to a now grown son, who is also a trained yoga teacher, currently pursuing his dreams on the island of  Bali.

MY FORMAL TRAINING: In 1990, I earned a BA with honors in English Literature and Writing from the University of Washington with additional studies in western psychology and philosophy. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and I graduated from the 2 year Ayurvedic Practitioner program at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico and attended their Guru Kula program in Pune, India. I spent two years training in foundational studies in Authentic Movement at the Authentic Movement Institute in Berkeley, CA and three more years with my training group continuing to explore that discipline. I have studied and practiced Somatic Meditation with Reggie Ray in Seattle, through his online programs and audio recordings and on retreat with him  in Crestone, CO. Now I am completing my tenth year in  the Diamond Approach, a school of psycho-spiritual development, where I continue my studies in self-inquiry, and what it means to be a human being.

I look forward to serving you.
