Ayurveda

The Science of Life

A personalized approach to good health and longevity.

Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine working to bring the body, mind and consciousness into balance. Food is the first medicine, and an ayurvedic approach targets diet, lifestyle, cleansing and rejuvenation therapies and herbal medicine to support the body’s natural healing, as well as yoga, pranayama, and meditation to support the mind and consciousness.

Ayurveda seeks to treat the root cause of an imbalance by looking into our past illnesses, genetic weaknesses, and mental, emotional and spiritual patterns.

Health from an Ayurvedic point of view is not simply the absence of disease but an ongoing state of deep wellbeing grounded in healthy bodily functioning, a calm and happy mind and a deep connection with Self.

Your first step is to schedule an Ayurvedic Assessment, a two-part visit including an initial 1.5-hour intake with dietary/lifestyle and herbal recommendations and a 30 minute follow up  -$185

Appointments are by Zoom

Ayurvedic Wellness Coaching

Ayurveda works best as an ongoing process of thoughtful shifts in how you are living to better support your organism: mind/body/soul. After an initial ayurvedic assessment, we will continue to meet regularly to implement dietary and lifestyle changes supported by marma sessions and herbal medicine.  I find a 6-month contract works best as a minimum to learn, practice and automate these habits into your life.

We will focus on how when and what you are eating for nourishment and tailor that to your constitutional needs and present state of imbalance. This may include meal-planning sessions.

Other lifestyle shifts will include practices to support good sleep, strengthen immunity, rejuvenate your deep energy reserves,  calm your mind and strengthen and open your body. I may also recommend herbal medicine and marma sessions.

You can expect to feel better right away as you begin to live in rhythm with natural cycles. We will name and identify patterns of resistance as they arise, and work through them towards the deeper changes you are craving.

Here’s what the first 3 months might look like:

  • An initial ayurvedic assessment (2 appointments) with an individualized diet and lifestyle plan based on your goals and a customized herbal formula.

  • 1 or 2 custom yoga and meditation sessions

  • a meal planning session

  •  marma treatments (post-pandemic)

  • Phone/text/email access on the weeks we don’t meet in person to check-in or ask questions.

“In the Summer of 2014, I was suffering from the worst seasonal allergies  I had ever experienced. It was the first time in 18 years of Recovery I felt like I could not function in daily life. Having taken a class in Ayurveda for Digestion from Shannon McCall at my local yoga studio, I contacted her for a consultation.

After our initial conversation by phone, I realized that there were multiple issues I had been minimizing or ignoring. I had low stamina, felt weak,  slept poorly was mildly depressed, among other things. Shannon did an in-depth intake questionnaire on my diet and daily habits and we began working together. We first focused on diet, with a goal of improving my meal choices and  meal schedule among other details. We also set up regular yoga sessions with personalized audio practices

included. Later we introduced Ayurvedic herbal supplements to my regimen along with other personal self-care practices (recently, use of a Neti pot).

My allergies improved almost immediately and I now have a template for daily living that works for me in my ordinary life. I have found working with Shannon extremely beneficial to my health and well-being overall and I feel stronger, am sleeping better and my emotional state has improved considerably. After 6 months I was able to see the connections between what I ate, drank, etc with how I felt.

I am invested in self-care at a new level now. At the age of 63, I am in touch with my body and my spirit in ways that feel new and hopeful. I find Shannon to be easy to share with, an excellent listener and very realistic about how much to work on at one time, and how to tailor what I do to my individual needs. I am actually glad I was so desperate for relief that I made the call that started me on my Ayurvedic journey and living life in a new and healthy manner.   THANKS, SHANNON!” -H.A. Seattle
