Aldermarsh 2The land at Aldermarsh has been stewarded with deep love and respect for years, and we are grateful to be able to return here again for a long fall weekend.

What are the practices that support our deepest presence? What practices can we incorporate into our lives at home to maintain our good health, enthusiasm and calm? During this weekend we will practice a variety of postures to stretch, strengthen and stabilize our bodies while grounding ourselves in our present moment experience of breath and sensation. The body is our home. Returning to it with love and openness allows us to come into contact with ourselves more deeply, while listening and feeling into sensations that allow the unconscious to emerge. The body is the doorway into our deepest felt longings, our oldest disappointments and the vastness of our Being. Taking time to relate to our bodily experience without judging or thinking it should be otherwise, allows a transformation of all that is in the way of our openness to Being to emerge, be experienced and transformed. Through active and restorative asana, meditation, conscious breathing, self-inquiry in journals and with partners, times in noble silence and in nature we will come home to ourselves and to the bounty of our lives and our present circumstances. We will return from the weekend more in touch, present, and resourced for our lives at home.

There will the opportunity to participate in sunrise and sunset fire ceremonies, agni hotra, as well as a sauna each afternoon in the hand built stone sauna.

Afternoons will be open for rest, reflection, walks, soaks, massage or a good nap. CEU’s available for yoga teachers.

Our retreat begins with arrival between 3 and 5pm on Thursday, followed by an asana class, dinner and an evening program. We will end after our morning sessions with lunch on Sunday.

Shannon headshot 2Shannon McCall, E-RYT, 500 , CAP, is a long-time yoga teacher and more recent ayurveda practitioner who has been leading yoga workshops and retreats for several decades. She loves to incorporate all 8 limbs of yoga into a meaningful, transformative practice where we can come home to our bodies as a source of refuge, learning and insight.
