Board Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner (NAMA) and Yoga Teacher
I teach the practices that are foundational to good health and wellbeing body, mind and spirit.
MY BACKGROUND: For 35 years I have practiced and trained in yoga, authentic movement, meditation, western and eastern psychology, Ayurveda and the Diamond Approach. I am always learning and evolving–integrating what I learn into teachings to support those with whom I am honored to work. The real teacher is within. True healing comes from the inside out. My job is to help you identify and let go of all that no longer serves you.
I offer yoga classes, trainings, retreats, ayurvedic consultations, and online courses in yogic and ayurvedic self-care. I work mostly with women, but men are most welcome!
I have been blessed with many wonderful teachers in yoga and ayurveda who have helped me understand myself, the world, and my place in it. I am most indebted to Dr. Vasant Lad, a true vaidya, who has shown me again and again that love is the true healer.
Speaking of love, I have traveled all over the South Pacific and Southeast Asia and spent many months a year on the island of Bali through the 90′s where I developed a very deep connection with the people of Sayan Village near Ubud. I am mother to a now grown son, who is also a trained yoga teacher.
MY FORMAL TRAINING: BA with honors in English Literature and Writing from the University of Washington, 1982.
AP: Board Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner (NAMA): graduate of the 2 year Ayurveda Practitioner program at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico and their Guru Kula program in Pune, India.
E-RYT, 500 with Yoga Alliance: grandfathered into the yoga alliance as an experienced registered yoga teacher after completing apprenticeships and yoga teacher trainings with many yoga luminaries, chief among them: Angela Farmer and Victor van Kooten who always lead me back inside, to the source of yoga within.
Authentic Movement Studies: two year training: Foundational Studies in Authentic Movement at the Authentic Movement Institute in Berkeley, CA with Neala Haze, Tina Stromstead, Joan Chodorow and Janet Adler. Additional three years Ongoing Studies with my training group.
Somatic Meditation: ongoing studies with Reggie Ray in Seattle, through his online programs and audio recordings and on retreat with him in Crestone, CO.
